Computer Guided Endodontic Stent Fabrication

In order to accurately perform a very calcified root canal, we utilize computer guided endodontic stents.  Using the patient's Cone Beam Computer Tomograhy (CBCT) scan and a physical impression, we can create a surgical stent that fits over the tooth to be treated. The stent has a pre-drilled hole which helps the Endodontist guide the drill into the calcified canal.  Sometimes a metal or ceramic tube is attached underneath the hole to steer the drill toward the perfect angle and position.  Using a computer-guided endodontic stent ensures the patient receives a precisely-placed root canal that functions properly without the loss of extensive tooth structure.
